Safeway, Inc. Community Pharmacy Residency Program
Safeway, Inc. offers a PGY-1 Community Pharmacy Residency Program in the Denver, Phoenix and Northern California area.
Our Community Pharmacy Residency Program is committed to providing a 12-month training year that is tailored to the needs and interests of the residents. Our community pharmacy residency program began in 1996 in the state of Illinois and was one of the first programs in the nation to be accredited by ASHP/APhA. This one year post-doctoral training is ideal for those seeking advanced opportunities in community pharmacy with interest in management, ambulatory care, or academia. Post-residency opportunities may be available upon residency completion.
Five residency positions are available each year, offering unique experiences with an advanced level of training in community pharmacy. Residents are based out of the retail grocery store pharmacy chain, and trained in Pharmacy Operations and various Disease State Management Programs including: MTM, diabetes, dyslipidemia, osteoporosis, hypertension, and immunizations. Residents also participate in health screenings and community outreach programs throughout the year, as well as work with our management team to help develop and implement new pharmacy care programs.
The residency program duration is one year, beginning in July of each year. The application deadline is January 5. For additional information and application forms, please explore the additional links.
