Safeway, Inc. Community Pharmacy Residency Program
Safeway, Inc. offers an accredited PGY-1 Community Pharmacy Residency Program in its Dominick’s division, located in the metropolitan Chicagoland area.
Our Community Pharmacy Residency Program is committed to providing a 12-month training year that is tailored to the needs and interests of the residents. Our program has over a decade of experience as the first community program in the state of Illinois and offers one of the longest accredited community programs in the nation. This one year post-doctoral training is ideal for those seeking advanced opportunities in community pharmacy with interest in management, ambulatory care, or academia. Post-residency opportunities may be available upon residency completion.
Three residency positions are available each year, each offering unique experiences with an advanced level of training in community pharmacy. Residents are based out of the retail grocery store pharmacy chain, and trained in Pharmacy Operations and various Disease State Management Programs including: MTM, diabetes, dyslipidemia, osteoporosis, hypertension, and immunizations. Residents also participate in health screenings and community outreach programs throughout the year, as well as work with our management team to help develop and implement new pharmacy care programs.
The residency start date is July 1 and ends on June 30 of the following year. The application deadline is January 1. For additional information and application forms, please explore the additional links.
